Luxury townhouses and condos with celebrity-designer touches

In the West End neighborhood of Alexandria, Va., there is a rising condominium and townhouse development designed to reflect the beauty and charm of the city’s Old Town district, with its waterfront, art galleries and small museums.

Eisenhower Pointe, a 10-minute drive from the waterfront, is a collaboration of builder Tri Pointe Homes and celebrity interior designer Bobby Berk, best known as the star of the Netflix show “Queer Eye.”

Berk and Tri Pointe have collaborated since 2015 on developments, including D.C.’s Brookland Grove townhouse community. The 75 townhouses and 64 condominium units at Eisenhower Pointe “feature a mix of clean lines of mid-century design with softer organic shapes found in nature,” according to a statement released by Tri Pointe.

“Your surroundings affect every aspect of your life, including your physical and mental well-being,” Berk said in a prepared statement. “My passion is creating spaces that are designed and organized in a way that nourishes one’s spirit. The ongoing projects with Tri Pointe Homes have allowed me to tie local inspiration to timeless design trends.”

Eisenhower Pointe has rooftop terraces, energy-efficient features and easy access to public transportation and other amenities. Two condos are move-in ready, and townhouses and condos are selling now for move-in dates starting in October.

Eisenhower Pointe offers four basic floor plans: The Armistead and Brenman for condos, and the Clermont and Montgomery for townhouses.

The move-in ready Brenman condos, at 137 and 141 Warburton St., are listed at $738,196 and $740,799, respectively. They have 1,950-square-feet, with three finished levels above a two-car garage. There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms, including a powder room.

The garages have preparations made for electric vehicle charging, and they have bump-out space for storage. The open-concept main levels have a great room connected to a dining area and a kitchen with a long island and a small pantry. This level also has the powder room.

The second level has two adjacent bedrooms, a laundry room and a full bathroom. The third level, described in Tri Pointe literature as “surely all about you,” has a primary bedroom suite with a walk-in closet, an en suite bathroom and access to the 11-by-12-foot roof terrace.

As with all the Eisenhower Pointe homes, the Brenman condos are outfitted with Whirlpool stainless-steel appliances in the kitchen, including a built-in microwave and an Energy Star-certified energy-efficient dishwasher and side-by-side refrigerator. The stainless-steel undermount kitchen sink has a touch-activated Delta Essa faucet. Some kitchens come with a gas cooktop; others have an electric stove with a glass top.

Smart home features include a Ring Pro doorbell; a Schlage Encode front door lock; an Ecobee3 Lite thermostat; WiFi smart switches; and a LiftMaster garage door opener with two remotes. Contributions to energy-efficient living are made by a tankless water heater; LED surface-mount lights; a MERV 12 air filter; and Ply Gem low-emittance vinyl windows.

The other condo floor plan, the Armistead, has 2,327 square feet. Priced from $739,900, the Armistead has three or four bedrooms and three or four bathrooms, including a powder room. In addition to a two-car garage, the lower level of this floor plan has a rec room with adjoining storage space and a foyer. This space can also accommodate a fourth bedroom and full bath, according to the floor plans. The other levels in the Armistead are similar to the Brenmen’s, with a larger walk-in closet on the third level of the Armistead.

The Montgomery is the larger of Eisenhower Pointe’s townhouse floor plans, at 2,632 to 2,705 square feet and with prices starting at $869,900. It has four levels, including the lower level and a loft, three or four bedrooms and three to five bathrooms, including a powder room.

The lower level has a two-car garage and a foyer, along with a large, open rec room or an optional bedroom and full bathroom. The open-plan main level has a great room with three windows facing the rear; a kitchen in the center with an island and a small pantry; and a dining room with a large window facing the front.

The third level includes the primary bedroom, with an en suite bathroom and a walk-in closet, a second bedroom with a walk-in closet, another full bathroom and a laundry room. The fourth level has a bedroom with a walk-in closet and an open loft adjoining an 11-by-19-foot rooftop terrace. Options for the loft include a “beverage center” to turn the space into a penthouse-style hub for parties.

The Clermont, the smaller townhouse, with 1,917 square feet and priced from $759,900, comes with three bedrooms and three or four bathrooms, including a powder room. Unlike the Montgomery, the two-car garage is tandem-style rather than side-by-side and does not adjoin a rec room space. Other levels offer similar living and storage spaces, but on a narrower footprint than the Montgomery’s.

Most Eisenhower Pointe units have brick and vinyl exteriors, in red and slate gray, to evoke the natural palate of the Old Town waterfront. Stained oak staircases, vinyl plank flooring, nine-foot ceilings, granite countertops and Delta chrome bathroom fixtures are intended to offer “down-to-earth textures and tones” and an overall effect that is “elegant without ever being precious,” according to Tri Pointe.
