Central Columbia Blue Jays Soccer Team

ESPY, Pa. — Get the ball to your scorers. It’s what the coaching staff at Central Columbia has been preaching all season. And the boys’ soccer players delivered with a (2-0) win Monday night over perennial state power Lewisburg.

“It means everything right now to these guys to the entire program. I mean Lewisburg is the gold standard for boys’ soccer in this area and for the state almost. So, to even be in a game with them but to especially come out with a win it’s unreal right now to be honest with you,” said Zach.

Still a very young team it’s been 16 up and 1 down for the blistering Blue Jays. Sophomore Gaige Gensemer got it going with this goal.

And then freshman Torin Karns the insurance in the 2nd half.

“Yeah it has meant a lot coming off of last year going about .500 and the way that we have played this year and playing for one another now (16-1) means a lot to us,” said Gaige.

“It’s amazing because we haven’t beaten this team in years. Just to beat them (2-0) is crazy,” said Torin.

The District 4 (2A) post season winner and runner-up will go into the state tournament battled tested. That tournament begins Tuesday November 7th.

“Yeah absolutely. We talked all year about not backing down to anybody physically and it was just one of those that it comes down especially with Lewisburg skill, but they are always physical, and they are always fast, and we just had to match it and I think tonight the guys did a great job of matching it. Playoffs down the road. Obviously you move it up with intensity and the games mean a little more. Yes absolutely. This one was a big one for District IV seeding. We just have to keep it going. We have had a couple of games where we played Midd-West last week and they are always a tough team and a really tough program and on the same level as Lewisburg and we just have to amp it up and moving into the playoffs we just have to keep it going and the intensity going,” again said Zach.
