Approvals for new Publix in Foley lead real estate news in coastal Alabama

The site plan and signage for a new Publix supermarket in east Foley is expected to receive approval by the Foley Planning Commission this upcoming week.

That news is among several real estate items making news in Mobile and Baldwin counties in recent days.

Publix will anchor The Village at Foley Crossroads retail center on 10 acres at the southwest corner of the Foley Beach Express and Baldwin County 20 in Foley. The design plans call for a drive-thru pharmacy at the grocery store.

Foley also figures in other recent news. Additionally:

• Maria’s Cafe has leased 8,576 square feet in Fountain Plaza at 3790 S. McKenzie Road in Foley, according to Chris Harle of White-Spunner Realty, who represented the landlord. Maria’s Cafe will include a meat market and a cafe.
• Southern Marine Company has leased 1,800 square feet of space and Finnir Finish has leased 2,700 square feet in the same complex at 9244 U.S. 98 in Fairhope, according to Crawford Stitt of White-Spunner Realty, who represented the landlord in both transactions.
• Watch for a Tractor Supply Co. store to be developed on a 4.25 acre site just south of Keller Road and east of Ala. 59 in Foley, near the Old Time Pottery, according to city planners.
• OWA Parks & Resort in Foley will soon have four indoor pickleball courts for guests. The $600,000 project is scheduled to open next month in space across from the OWA Theater in Downtown OWA off OWA Boulevard in Foley.
• A 116-unit townhome project called the Village at Gulf Landing is expected to be developed on more than 16 acres on the north side of 34th Avenue in Gulf Shores, according to city planners. The three-bedroom townhomes will be built in a total of 18 buildings on the site.
