Houston’s most expensive homes sold in August 2023


The most expensive homes sold in Houston in August featured a mansion formerly owned by ex-Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub in the Tanglewood neighborhood, along with a newly constructed European-style estate and other mansions on spacious, wooded lots in River Oaks and The Woodlands. 

List price: $12.9 million
Sold price: Over $10 million
5 bedrooms, 6 full and 4 half bathrooms
Unique features: This newly constructed 8,800-square-foot mansion in River Oaks was sold by Mirador Custom Homes, according to Harris County deed records. The home was built by Jennifer Hamelet of Mirador Builders on a lot overlooking Pine Valley Park, according to Houston Association of Realtors. A cobblestone motor court and a gated driveway lead to the European-style estate, which features artisan-quality finishes and a grand lawn with an outdoor pavilion and swimming pool and spa. 

No. 2: 318 Timberwilde Lane

List price: $7.3 million
Sold price: $6.7 million to $7.8 million
4 bedrooms, 5 full and 2 half bathrooms
Unique features: This 8,353-square-foot home is set on a wooded 2.5-acre lot with gardens and mature trees along a private street in Hunters Creek Village.

List price: $6.5 million
Sold price: $5.9 million to $6.8 million
5 bedrooms, 5 full and 3 half baths
Unique features: The 10,840-square-foot Tanglewood mansion previously owned by former Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub offers a double-lot with mature oak trees. Schaub, who played for the Texans from 2007 to 2014, sold the home in 2015. The most recent owner bought the neighboring lot in 2021 to create a combined 1.1-acre property.

Unique features: Famed architect Robert Dame designed this English-inspired 8,835-square-foot mansion combining Old World charm with modern touches on a private, 1-acre lot in Carlton Woods.
